THE STORY

The story takes place in ancient Rome, about 200 B.C. Pseudolus, a wily slave, will do almost anything to gain his freedom. When he is left in charge of his owner's naïve son, Hero, who has fallen in love with a beautiful courtesan the fun begins. Hero promises Pseudolus his freedom if he can arrange a marriage with the girl before Hero's parents return from their trip to the country. Psuedolus, of course, agrees. But not even the conniving slave can foresee the tangled web that he is about to weave. The place is a street in Rome in front of the three houses of Erronius, Senex and Lycus.
