Brockville has a long history in the pharmaceutical products manufacturing sector and it is considered to be among the very first Canadian cities to have housed such firms. Eastern Ontario has an overall lower cost of operation including land, labour and facilities. Start-up costs are much lower than most major urban centres and are estimated to be one-fifth that of the Greater Toronto Area. A division of Abbott Laboratories, a US market leader in pediatric nutritionals and world leader in adult nutritionals, Ross operates a plant in Brockville employing 120 people producing their well known Similac and Ensure products.
Trillium Health Care Products
Employing 350 people, the Brockville location is the only cough syrup manufacturer in Canada. In addition, Trillium manufactures effervescent and regular tablets, liquid capsules, suspensions, suppositories, ointments, creams and powders. Trilliums large client base reflects its quality and dependability as a contract manufacturer of prescription and OTC drugs.
