Downtown Vacancies Hits a Record Low in Ten Years

The December 2011 Downtown Vacancy Report highlights Brockville’s downtown with a record low number of store front vacancies, sitting at 10. The report, which checks vacancies along King Street quarterly each year, has an average norm in the mid to high teens at the end of each quarter with the highest vacancy rate in March 2005 at 26.

The City’s Economic Development office and DBIA do not report that vacancies are steady in nature over the past number of years; however, between 2001 and 2011, 10 vacant store fronts is the lowest.

This is a positive economic sign when people are opening businesses and investing in our community. We salute all of our merchant and service providers for their dedication and hard work and thank the community for supporting Downtown Brockville and our local economy.
