Nominations for Office

Council

  • Mayor - One (1) to be elected by all electors in the City of Brockville
  • Council - Eight (8) to be elected by all electors in the City of Brockville

School Board   School Board boundaries may currently be under review and will be available shortly.

  • English Language Public School Board Trustee - Upper Canada District School Board - 1 (one) Trustee (at large) for Trustee Ward Number 5, which is comprised of the municipalities of the City of Brockville and Augusta Township.

Nomination papers for Candidates for the English Language Public School Board Trustee must be filed in person at the Election Office, City of Brockville, 1 King Street West, Brockville between the hours of 8:00 am to 4:00 pm, Monday to Friday and on Friday, September 12, 2014 between 9:00 am and 2:00 pm. Please note only cash, certified cheque, debit or money order will be accepted.

  • English Language Catholic School Board Trustee - Catholic District School Board of Eastern Ontario- 1 (one) Trustee (at large) for Zone 4, which is comprised of Leeds County (including the City of Brockville and excluding Elizabethtown-Kitley Township) and the Town of Smiths Falls

Nomination papers for Candidates for the English Language Catholic School Board Trustee must be filed in person at the Election Office, City of Brockville, 1 King Street West, Brockville between the hours of 8:00 am to 4:00 pm, Monday to Friday and on Friday, September 12, 2014 between 9:00 am and 2:00 pm. Please note only cash, certified cheque, debit or money order will be accepted.

  • French Language Public School Trustee - French Language Public District School Board (le Conseil des écoles publiques de l'Est de l'Ontario) - 1 (one) Trustee (at large) for Geographic Region 2, which is comprised of all municipalities in the Counties of Leeds and Grenville, Frontenac, Hastings, Prince Edward, and Lennox and Addington.

Nomination papers for Candidates for the French Language Public School Board Trustee must be filed in person at the Election Office, City of Kingston, 216 Ontario Street, Kingston between the hours of 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, Monday to Friday and on Friday, September 12, 2014 between 9:00 am and 2:00 pm. Please note only cash, certified cheque or money order will be accepted.

  • French Language Catholic School Board (le Conseil des écoles catholiques de langue français de Centre-Est) - 1 (one) Trustee (at large) for Electoral Zone 2 which is comprised of Lanark, Leeds and Grenville Counties.

Nomination papers for Candidates for the French Language Catholic School Board Trustee must be filed in person with at the Election Office, Municipality of North Grenville, 285 County Road #44, Kemptville between the hours of 8:30 am to 5:00 pm and on Friday, September 12, 2014 between 9:00 am and 2:00 pm Please note only cash, certified cheque or money order will be accepted.  

Nominations for all offices as set out above may be filed by candidates, or an agent, commencing Thursday, January 2, 2014 through to Friday, September 12, 2014 at the Office of the City Clerk, City Hall, 1 King Street West, Brockville except for Trustees for French Language Catholic School Board or French Language Public School Board which must be filed with the appropriate lead municipality.  Nomination papers filed in Brockville may be filed Monday to Friday between the hours of 8:00 am and 4:00 pm and on September 12, 2014 between the hours of 9:00 am and 2:00 pm.

At the time of filing, each candidate must pay the prescribed nomination fee ($200.00 for Head of Council and $100.00 for all other offices) by cash, certified cheque, debit or money order payable to the City of Brockville.

A complete Nomination package will contain the following:

  • Form 1 - Nomination Paper
  • EL18 - Declaration of Qualifications (Please note there are separate forms for Council or School Trustee)
  • BR02 - Consent to Release Personal Information 
  • EL14 - Proper Use of Voters' List
  • applicable nomination fee ($200 Office of Mayor; $100 Office of Councillor or School Trustee)

It is the responsibility of the candidate to determine whether he or she is qualified to be elected to and hold the office for which they are nominated. Persons wishing to seek elected municipal or school board should read the relevant legislation and regulations for qualification required for the office, e.g. the Municipal Act, 2001, the Education Act, and the Municipal Elections Act, 1996.

Candidates are required to file a nomination prior to commencing campaign activities, including raising campaign funds and incurring campaign expenses.
