Eligibility to Vote

To be an eligible elector in the City of Brockville, you have to be:

  • a Canadian Citizen;
  • at least 18 years old;
  • reside in the City of Brockville or own or rent land in the City of Brockville, or the spouse of an owner or tenant; and
  • not prohibited from voting under law.

Is your name on the List?

How do you check?... It's easy!

Commencing on September 2, 2014, individuals will be able to verify that their name is on the Voter’s List for the upcoming Municipal Elections by visiting or calling Brockville City Hall between the hours of 8:00 am and 4:00 pm. After September 22, 2014, you will be required to come into the Voter Help Centre at Brockville City Hall to fill out a form and provide photo identification.

As an added security feature, you will be required to add your date of birth before voting. If you are unsure that your full date of birth is on the voter’s list, you may contact the Voter Help Centre to have it added prior to voting.

REMEMBER: you must present proof of citizenship, residency and age in order to be added to the Voters List! Acceptable Documents for Voter Identification. Additions received in the mail will not be processed.

The Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing has prepared a voter's guide in order to make election information easier to find and more user friendly. You can view the guide here or obtain a copy from the Clerk's Office at City Hall. 

Vote by internet or telephone

Voting at your convenience! 

Electors in the City of Brockville will be voting electronically, by internet or telephone in the 2014 Municipal Election.

A Voter Information Letter will be mailed to you directly in the month of October, providing you with a Personal identification Number (PIN) which will allow you to vote 24 hours a day for 8 days, from Monday, October 20th at 10 am to Monday, October 27th at 8 pm, from any touch tone telephone or any device connected to the internet;
