Building and Planning Information

Before making any changes to your property, you will need to look into which Zone your property falls in and check your project against the Official Plan and Zoning Bylaw. It will also need to adhere to the Ontario Building Code regulations.

Some projects (such as sheds below a certain size) might not need a building permit, but will still need to adhere to zoning regulations.

Below you will find a number of information items on the topics that our Planning and Building staff get asked about the most. For more information about any of these topics, or other plans you may have, please talk to our staff about your ideas. Our knowledgeable and approachable staff can help you figure out what is permitted on your property, and let you know what permits may be required.
