LEEDS GRENVILLE & LANARK DISTRICT HEALTH UNIT

   As a vital part of the Emergency Response Planning Team for the community, the Leeds, Grenville and Lanark District Health Unit provides:

  • Expertise in emergency health planning

  • Assessment of health needs in shelters

  • Food and water safety inspection and information

  • Communicable disease control

  • Protection of vulnerable populations

  • Support to meet emotional needs during and after an emergency

  • Health information to the public

     The Health Unit besides being a reliable source of information on many public health issues, also has legal authority to enforce regulations under the Health Protection and Promotion Act of Ontario, in respect to food safety, communicable disease control, safe water, immunization, and health hazard identification and control.
